Most of my pictures are taken "on the run", in the ordinary course of life. I have no particular purpose and certainly not some specious intellectual programme. It is about pleasure, interest and understanding. The techniques are ordinary, natural to the medium and available to anyone. The subjects are equally mundane. My equipment is good but simple. The entire trick is to keep on looking, looking and looking as honestly and plainly as possible recording what is there in front of me, and presenting it with the utmost simplicity.
This approach has given unalloyed pleasure for over 40 years. It has withstood rigorous analysis for dishonesty, pretension and deception but passes these tests only by constant attention to the risks.
