flisswattsPortrait of Fliss Watts

I grew up in Yorkshire and, after some wanderings (studying philosophy in the UK and USA, where I also taught for a while), I went to the City and Guilds of London Art School to study sculpture. The emphasis there was on figurative sculpture, modelling and casting, though we also explored a wide range of other materials and processes.

Since leaving London I have been a self-employed sculptor and proofreader, working on various public art projects in the north east and Cumbria. I moved to West Cumbria in 1999.

My work ranges from small bronzes to larger commissions in stone and steel. I also make linocut prints and drawings.

I teach occasional courses at Higham Hall and run a portrait drawing group at Bridgefoot. For more info see www.watermellon.co.uk
